Website Name Generator

A website name is also a domain name, so it should be one word, free of hyphens and easy to type after hearing it once.

Words about what you sell, how it should feel, or who it is for. Leave it blank to see sample names for the industry.

Every name links to a .com availability search at Hostinger (a partner link). Generated names are not checked against trademarks. How to check a name.

Think in domains

Every name on this page is shown as a .com with a search link. These settings default to one word and 14 letters or fewer, because short single-word domains are easier to type, share and remember.

  • No hyphens. People forget them and they are awkward to say aloud.
  • Avoid ambiguous spellings. Words that can be spelled two ways send traffic to whoever owns the other spelling.
  • Watch word breaks. Read the name in lowercase as one string to make sure it does not accidentally spell something else.

Naming a blog or content site

Blogs and content sites can be more personal than businesses. A topic word plus a voice word (a compound or suffixed name) gives readers a hint about what to expect. If you might widen your topic later, choose a broader word.

If the .com is taken

Read our .com vs other domains guide for options, including when another domain ending is a sensible choice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy a domain that someone else already owns?

Sometimes. Some owners list domains for sale, and brokers can make offers on your behalf. Prices vary widely. Before paying, make sure the name is not a trademark someone else owns in your field.

Is the website name generator free?

Yes. The website name generator is free with no sign-up and no limit on how many names you generate. The site is supported by advertising and clearly labeled partner links.

Are the names from the website name generator available to use?

Not necessarily. The generator creates ideas; it does not check trademarks, state business records, domains or social handles. Each name links to a .com search, and our availability guide covers the other checks.

Do you save the keywords I type?

No. Names are generated in your browser and your keywords are not sent to us. Names you save are kept in your own browser's local storage, and you can delete them on the saved names page.

Why do I get the same names for the same keywords?

The generator is deterministic, so the same keywords and settings always return the same list and you can find a name again later. For fresh ideas, use Show more names, switch styles or add a second keyword.
