About StartupNameLab

A free name generator and a library of plain-English naming guides for people starting something new.

What this site is

StartupNameLab helps people find a name for a new business, product, app or website. It has two parts: a name generator that runs in your browser, and guides that explain what to do with a name once you have one, from testing it on real people to checking trademarks and domains.

Who runs it

StartupNameLab is operated by GelFuzion, Inc., a small web company in the United States. We build and maintain the generator, write and update the guides, and answer email ourselves.

How the generator works

The generator is a small JavaScript program. It combines your keywords with curated word banks for thirteen industries using six construction styles (compound, blend, prefix or suffix, invented, descriptive and evocative), removes combinations that are hard to pronounce, and applies your length and syllable filters. It does not call an AI service, and your keywords are not sent to our servers.

The results are ideas, not checked names. We do not check trademark databases, business registers, domains or social handles automatically, and we say so wherever names appear.

How we make money

The site is free to use and supported by advertising (Google AdSense) and by partner links. Partner links are labeled, and we explain them on our affiliate disclosure page. Partners do not pay for placement in our guides or influence what we write.
