How the generator works

There is no AI service behind this tool and nothing is sent to a server. The generator runs as a small program in your browser that combines your keywords with curated word banks for each industry, then filters the results so they are pronounceable and fit your length and syllable limits.

  1. Start with real words

Type one to three words about what you sell, how it should feel or who it is for. Concrete nouns work better than adjectives like "best" or "quality".

  2. Shape the results

Pick an industry to load relevant vocabulary, choose naming styles, and limit the length or syllables. Short names are easier to say, spell and fit in a logo.

  3. Shortlist and check

Save the names you like, then check the .com, social handles and trademarks before you commit. Our availability guide walks through it.

Six ways to build a name

The generator mixes six naming styles. Each has strengths and costs, so it helps to know which kind you are looking at. The examples on each card were produced by the generator from a single keyword.

Compound

Two whole words joined into one. Easy to read and remember, usually clear about what you do.

BloomWorks, BloomNest, BloomHalo, ForgeBloom

Blend

Two words overlapped where they share letters, or a clipped word joined to another. Distinctive and often available.

Patharvest, Harvember, Harvolive, Charvest

Prefix or suffix

A keyword with a familiar add-on such as -ly, -ify, -works or Get-. Modern and quick to grasp.

Ledgerify, GetLedger, ProLedger, Ledgerpoint

Invented

A clipped or respelled keyword with a new ending. The strongest choice for trademarks and domains, but needs explaining.

Koffux, Koffari, Koffeica, Koffix

Descriptive

Says what you do in plain words. Instantly clear and good for local search, harder to protect.

Pure Bloom, Bare Bloom, The Bloom Salon, The Bloom Bar

Evocative

A vivid image or alliteration that hints at the feeling of the brand rather than the product.

Linden Coffee, Cinnamon Cafe, Coffee & Cardinal, Harbor Roasters

Before you fall in love with a name

A name you can't use is worse than no name, because you will have spent time and emotion on it. Before you order a logo or business cards, run through these checks. Each one takes minutes.

  • Say it out loud to three people and ask them to spell it back.
  • Search it with your industry and city to see who already uses it.
  • Check the trademark register in your country for similar names in your field.
  • Look up your state's business records if you plan to form an LLC or corporation.
  • Check the .com and the social handles you need.

Questions people ask

Is the business name generator free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on how many names you generate and no paid tier. The site is supported by advertising and by partner links, which are always labeled.

Are these names available to use?

We cannot tell you that. The generator creates ideas; it does not check trademark databases, state business records, domains or social handles. Every name has a .com search link, and our availability guide explains the other checks.

Do you store my keywords or ideas?

No. Names are generated in your browser and your keywords are not sent to us. Saved names are stored in your own browser's local storage on this device, and you can delete them at any time from the saved names page.

Why do I get the same names for the same keywords?

The generator is deterministic: identical keywords, industry and settings always give the same list, so you can come back and find a name again. Use Show more names, try another style or add a second keyword for fresh ideas.

How many keywords should I enter?

One or two strong words usually work best. The generator uses up to three. A second keyword unlocks names that combine both, such as blends of the two words.

What makes a good business name?

It is easy to say and spell after hearing it once, it is distinct from competitors, it fits the feeling of your brand, and you can secure it as a domain and trademark. Our step by step naming guide covers the whole process.
